With the Philadelphia Eagles advancing to the Super Bowl in New Orleans, fans are speculating about the potential return of veteran defensive end Brandon Graham following his Week 12 triceps injury.
During an interview on Monday morning on WIP radio, Graham expressed his cautious optimism. “I’m taking it one day at a time,” he shared, without dismissing the possibility of rejoining the team. “I haven’t heard anything definitive yet,” Graham said via Zach Berman of PHLY. “I’m just excited to be here, excited for this team, and excited for this moment.”
Graham, celebrated for his game-changing strip-sack of Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII that helped secure the Eagles’ first championship, is in his 15th season with the team. Originally planning to retire after the 2024 season, the injury has prompted Graham to reconsider his next steps. The dream of ending his career by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy could be a compelling reason to push through.
The 36-year-old recorded 3.5 sacks in 11 games during the 2024 campaign before the injury sidelined him. Reflecting on his recovery, Graham noted that this injury has been easier to manage compared to previous setbacks. “I feel good,” he said, more than two months post-injury. “Upper body injuries are a bit easier to recover from. It’s about rebuilding muscle, getting stronger, and ensuring I don’t reinjure it. We’ll see what the doctors say and take it from there.”
While the Eagles have performed admirably with Nolan Smith, Josh Sweat, and Jalyx Hunt stepping up, Graham’s return would provide invaluable veteran leadership and Super Bowl experience, even if he only plays a limited role.
