Neymar Parts Ways with Al Hilal After Injury Challenges

Neymar’s time at Al Hilal has officially come to an end, as the club and the Brazilian superstar mutually agreed to terminate his contract following a challenging 18 months marred by injuries.

In an official statement, Al Hilal expressed gratitude for Neymar’s contributions: “Al Hilal Club Company and Neymar Jr. have agreed to terminate their contractual relationship by mutual consent. The club expresses its thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided throughout his career with Al Hilal and wishes the player success in his career.”

Neymar joined Al Hilal in August 2023 in a record-breaking transfer deal. However, his tenure was plagued by misfortune. A ruptured ACL sidelined him for a year just two months after signing, followed by a hamstring injury that ruled him out for the rest of 2024. During his time with the Saudi Pro League champions, Neymar managed only seven appearances in 18 months.

Despite Neymar’s absence, Al Hilal enjoyed an incredible 2023/24 season under Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus. The team went unbeaten in the Saudi Pro League, amassing 96 points from a possible 102 and scoring an impressive 101 goals. They also secured the King’s Cup and Super Cup titles, demonstrating their dominance in Saudi football.

Now set to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, Al Hilal boasts a star-studded lineup, including Yassine Bounou, Kalidou Koulibaly, Joao Cancelo, and Aleksandar Mitrovic. They will face Real Madrid C.F., FC Salzburg, and CF Pachuca in Group H, with aspirations of advancing to the knockout stage.

As for Neymar, the 32-year-old is rumored to be considering a return to Santos, the club where he first rose to stardom. Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Pele in 2023 with 70 international goals, is also eyeing a potential fourth FIFA World Cup™ appearance in 2026. Fans will undoubtedly hope to see him return to top form on the international stage.
